Tesla fire in Wake County home near Raleigh
RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Two people were displaced after an electric car was among two vehicles that caught fire in a Wake County home’s garage Saturday afternoon.
The fire was reported just after 5:35 p.m. at a large home in the 3100 block of Umstead View Drive, according to Raleigh Fire Department officials.
The location is a 4,000-square-foot home in Wake County between Cary and Raleigh just off Interstate 40 near the Wade Avenue exit.
Officials said 45 firefighters were at the scene, including crews from the Cary Fire Department and Western Wake Fire-Rescue.
It’s unclear what caused the fire but a Tesla electric vehicle burned during the garage fire.
Officials said a Chrysler Pacifica also was in the garage at the time of the fire.

The fire was under control within 25 minutes but crews were still on the scene two hours later. Electric car fires can be difficult to fully extinguish.
The Red Cross is assisting two adults who were displaced. No one was injured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
