The Electric Car With The Most Range In 2024

In today’s electric driving landscape, there will be MANY companies lauding their range, performance specs, and luxurious amenities. We see it all day, every day. However, when it comes to EVs with a truly groundbreaking range per full charge, this is when things get a bit murkier. You don’t have many manufacturers breaking 350 miles, which is considered more of a standard for 2024 and moving onward. Drivers want at least 300 miles of electric range in their car, truck, or SUV. Everyone knows this, but few deliver on it for a good price.

That said, if you don’t mind spending extra money to get into a vehicle with impeccable range, then the world becomes your oyster. Brands like Tesla, Rivian, and Lucid are your top three in terms of range. You have the Model S, which is estimated to travel 400 miles per charge, and the Rivian R1T, which boasts a Quad-Motor setup delivering 410 miles per charge.

Just a few years ago, around 330 miles would have dropped our jaw, although today, that seems very underwhelming. If you aren’t getting the most out of your EV, many wonder why it would be worth such a dramatic switch from hybrid, PHEV, or ICE vehicles. Here’s which electric model offers the best range for 2024 and essentially blows the rest of its competition out of the water. Let the battle begin, folks.

In order to give you the most up-to-date and accurate information possible, the data used to compile this article was sourced from Lucid Motors and other authoritative sources, including the EPA.

2024 Lucid Air: A Comprehensive Guide On Features, Specs, And Pricing

The Lucid Air is one of the most impressive all-electric cars on the market and this comprehensive guide dives into every little detail.

516 Miles Of Range? Thank Lucid Motors

When it comes to the electric vehicle with the most range in 2024, the winner is the Lucid Air Grand Touring sedan. Not only is this one of the sleekest models on the EV market, but it’s also the highest-performing. Beating out even Tesla’s Model S, the Lucid Air Grand Touring is meant to be charged very infrequently.

Lucid Motors has always been an outlier in the car community. It launched in 2007 and has since gone on to become one of the upper-tier options for EV shoppers in North America. These cars are built in California, and with the Lucid Air Grand Touring nameplate, you can expect 516 EPA-tested miles per charge. This makes it the BEST electric model, sedan or bigger, in the segment for this year. For a few years, this car has blown everyone else away, so it’s not one to be messed with.

Again, with 516 maximum miles, the Lucid Air Grand Touring is one of the most potent in history. We haven’t seen anyone beat it yet, so for now, we hand the crown to Lucid Motors.

One thing to remember when shopping for a 500+ mile range Lucid Air Grand Touring is that only the Performance model sees this EPA-tested range. At its base trim, the Air travels 410 miles (still awesome). Moving up, you have the Grand Touring and Grand Touring Performance models offering up to 446 and 516 miles of range, respectively. This vehicle sets you back $161,500, so it’s also one of the most expensive EVs on the road today. We’d agree this is for good reason, considering its range.

500+ Miles Of Range Is Unheard Of (For Now)

When it comes to why the 2024 Lucid Air Grand Touring is capable of such an incredible range, this is thanks to its 118 kWh 900 V lithium-ion battery pack. Remember, most EVs use a ~100 kWh battery, and even smaller, so this is a big jump for Lucid. The brand also utilizes a dual-motor setup, boasting 819 horsepower. This again adds to its charm and notoriety, especially if you’re after something fast.

Lucid Motors is in a league of its own for countless reasons, but looking deeper at how it’s built makes the average EV look like a toy. Being well over $150,000, the Lucid Air Grand Touring vehicles are worth it for the luxury market, and with an unrivaled range, you can’t find anything better in 2024. For reference, the other best EVs for their range include the Chevy Silverado EV (450 miles), Lucid Air Sapphire (427 miles), the Lucid Air Touring (425 miles), Rivian R1T Quad-Motor (410 miles), and Tesla Model S (400 miles).

Here’s How Much A 1-Year-Old Lucid Air Is Worth Today

With Lucid’s recent price cuts and the Air suffering from heavy depreciation, are you better off buying a new one or a slightly used one?

This Model Offers Decent Mileage

Lucid

When it comes to the MPGe estimates and ratings for the 2024 Lucid Air, this vehicle sees impressive figures across the board. Not only does its Performance model get a combined MPGe rating of 121 miles, but its highway and city figures are 119 and 123, respectively. Across the lineup, you see well over 100 MPGe for this high-power sedan, whether it’s RWD or AWD.

Naturally, the all-wheel-drive setup decreases MPGe a bit, but you see the smooth drive with that configuration. The speed alone makes a combined rating of 123 a doozy, as many performance ICE and EVs fail in the mileage department. Moreover, the EPA suggests that the 2024 Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance model uses 28 kWh for every 100 miles driven. This is pretty significant, but with 516 miles of range, it doesn’t make too much of a daily impact.

Base, RWD Air Sedans Achieve Better MPGe

Adding to our above point, the 2024 Lucid Air, even at a base level, is worth it. For the RWD Air configuration, you see an expected MPGe scoring of 140 in the city, 134 on the highway, and a combined MPGe of 137. The EPA also suggests this model 25 kWh per 100 miles traveled, which is worth noting. You see better RWD mileage, although the total range for this specific model sits at 410 miles. Even then, it beats the Model S by ~10 miles of range. This also compares to the Quad Motor configuration Rivian offers to its vehicles, boasting 410 miles. Just sayin’.

Is It Worth Over $161,000?

Grey Lucid Air Touring

Although the Performance trim with 516 miles of range in 2024 costs $161,500, this is for good reason. Lucid Motors has always been a luxury vehicle manufacturer, creating limited quantities of its already iconic nameplates. You can still buy into the Lucid family for fairly cheap, with entry models being $69,900. Of course, that’s still not necessarily “affordable,” but it’s much better than the double-plus price point of the Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance.

Whatever the case, you have plenty to enjoy inside and outside of this vehicle, whether it’s 400 miles or above 500. Lucid Motors has perfected many of its nameplates and is expected to continue growing its influence over the next few years. The business strategy with this brand is to remain somewhat limited edition in higher trims, almost pushing the luxury consumer to make the leap. It’s clearly working. The company reported $172.7 million in Q1 2024 earnings AND delivered 1,967 vehicles (up nearly 40 percent from last year).

Skip The Tesla, Buy The Lucid!

Although we love Tesla, and always will, there is an exciting aspect of buying a Lucid. These are high-power, amazing range sedans and now SUVs boasting luxury accents, limited quantities, and a California spin on EVs we love to witness.

You could compare the base ideology of this company with Fisker, as they’re both California natives, except Lucid has upped the ante far more than other automakers. It almost feels European in its approach to electric driving, which is certainly refreshing, considering the EU EVs around here aren’t always that exciting. Sorry. Tesla will always be a cool idea, but Lucid is yet another electric manufacturer that swings and makes it. Cheers to the Air Grand Touring!
