Track-only Bugatti Bolide is Bugatti’s fastest car yet

Bugatti has finally completed extensive testing of the upcoming track-only Bugatti Bolide, its most powerful production car yet.

The French automaker began testing the hypercar last year, and it is finally ready for production.

If everything goes according to the carmaker’s plan, owners will take deliveries of the Bolide by the end of this year.

The Bugatti Bolide is not your regular hypercar.

While it’s highly similar to the W16 engine Bugatti Mistral, which someone recently spotted, its capabilities go a long way.

Moreover, the automaker revealed that there will only be 40 units when it enters production.

So, if you want one, you better get on it now.

The Bolide initially came out as a concept car a few years ago, but Bugatti finally decided to take it off the page and into the real world.

Like other cars in the automaker’s portfolio, this one can produce 1,578 hp from its 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine.

With that engine performance, also comes a top speed of 236 mph.

However, the automaker notes that Bolide isn’t a hypercar focused on speed, but rather on handling and braking.

Plus, that checks out — we already know that the Bolide packs the largest carbon-carbon brakes ever fitted in a hypercar.

However, the Bolide will be the carmaker’s final car to feature the W16 engine.

That’s because the supercar maker has plans to introduce a new V16 Hybrid engine in the Chiron’s successor.

The French automaker also said that this hypercar is faster than an F1 car.

Now, that’s a controversial statement.

Track driver Andy Wallace tested the hypercar and had something to say about it.

“The feeling when you come out of a corner, press the throttle, and experience that relentless surge of power is incomparable,” Wallace said.

He added, “You come out of that corner at 100km/h, and from there to 200km/h and then 300km/h is an absolute revelation.

“In that specific scenario, the Bolide would pull away from a Formula 1 car.”
