Tulsa International Airport unveils additional electric vehicle charging stations | News
TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa International Airport unveiled additional electric vehicle charging stations in the airport’s parking garage on Monday.
This project was completed in collaboration with the Indian Nations Council of Governments (INCOG), Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust and Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO).
The airport said the project marked a significant milestone in the airport’s commitment to embracing green technology and giving additional services to its passengers.
A ribbon cutting was held on Earth Day to give an exclusive look at the new charging stations as well as over 15 electric vehicles on display from local dealerships.
Tulsa County Commissioner and Chair of the Board of Directors for INCOG, Karen Keith, spoke at the ribbon cutting.
Keith said INCOG received $500,000 in federal funding for the project.
“Federal funding for this project has allowed the Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust to install the infrastructure and electric vehicle charging stations,” Keith said.
The charging stations will accommodate for 32 additional vehicles.
“As a driver of an electric-hybrid vehicle, I understand the importance of convenient recharging options at public places such as airports, public parks and libraries,” Keith said.
Keith said the charging stations will provide numerous benefits.
“It will encourage adoption of electric vehicles by offering convenient charging facilities,” Keith said.
Keith said they encourage travelers and airport staff to choose electric vehicles to reduce the environmental impact of transportation.
