Two free robotics courses being offered at Tazewell County Career and Technical Center

TAZEWELL COUNTY, Va. (WVVA) – The Tazewell County Career and Technical Center is offering two additional free robotic operator certifications this year. The classes will help students learn automation and other skills that can allow for employment at production plants that require robots.

Students interested must complete the OSHA 10 general industry certification before the first day of class. The instructor for the class says students can be reimbursed for the cost of the certification.

“There’s a lot of companies, some of the bigger companies are all going more robotic these days. They really need people who know how to operate, how to program them and get them reset and up and running whenever there’s downtime,” said instructor, Ryan Lewis.

The first class being offered starts on May 15 and will run through June 28. It’s Monday through Friday from 5 pm to 8 pm.

The second class runs from July 8 to July 26. It’s Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm.

To register or for more information about the course you can contact Lee Salyers by calling 276-988-5511, extension 1700 or by email at lsalyers@tcpsva.org. You can also email Cynthia Hurley at clhurley@tcpsva.org.

Only 20 spots are available for each class.
