UK-RAS launches its first robotics funding scheme of 2024

EPSRC UK-RAS launches its first robotics funding scheme of 2024The grants are designed “to enable academic engagement and growth in the field of Robotics and Autonomous Systems in line with the specific priorities of the UK-RAS NetworkPlus,” says the organisation.

As a guide, it is looking for are looking for novel areas of research and proofs of concept, but also academic activities that can’t be funded in other ways but are still of potential value to UK-RAS Network. They will also consider ad hoc networking with other researchers and labs to benefit collaborations, and activities to encourage diversity, inclusion, and outreach.

Priorities of the UK-RAS Network Plus, which is based at the University of Manchester, are described as: Foundational Low TRL research (basic research); Internationalisation of RAS research (helping UK RAS researchers establish their work internationally); and Stimulating the Progress of Early Career Researchers in UK RAS.

You can find the application form and submission details on the UK-RAS website.

The funding stream will be open for the duration of the Manchester UK-RAS Hub, closing six months before the network’s final end date (30/09/2026). Note that the regulations governing grants are inherited from both EPSRC and University of Manchester.

The UK-RAS Network

The EPSRC UK Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) Network was established in March 2015 with the mission to provide academic leadership in RAS and expand collaboration with industry.

It also coordinates activities at Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) funded RAS capital facilities, Centres of Doctoral Training (CDTs) and partner universities across the UK.

The Network organises events such as the UK Robotics Week, symposia, workshops, public engagement and exhibitions.
