University of Alabama hosts robotics competition for K-12 students
A huge robotics competition at the University of Alabama over the weekend drew students from all over the state.
About 300 K-12 students participated in the Alabama Robotics Competition hosted by the University of Alabama College of Engineering. The competition introduces students to computer science and teaches basic programming skills through interactive challenges.
Teams were judged on their programming skills by writing programs onsite to navigate their robots across a series of obstacle courses.
“Something I really want to learn is like how can I use this on something really big, like a car or something like that. And does a car do the same things that we’re implementing into the robot?” said Justin Jemison, a sophomore at Greensboro High School.
UA has hosted the Alabama Robotics Competition since 2011.
