UST Starts Generative AI Training Program

UST, a global IT services company, will train over 25,000 of its employees globally in generative AI, a cutting-edge computer tool for the years ahead.

The Aliso Viejo-based company said the program is designed to show UST’s commitment to comprehensive workforce training and upskilling, keeping its personnel future-ready.

Generative AI is a broad label that’s used to describe any type of artificial intelligence that can be used to create new text, images, video, audio, code or synthetic data.

A multidisciplinary approach helps ensure that generative AI models are designed, trained, deployed and maintained ethically and responsibly, UST said on May 15.

UST will offer a range of GenAI training programs that are specifically tailored to its employees and their different roles and responsibilities.

Academic Breakthroughs

UST says it will collaborate with leading researchers to bring “the latest academic breakthroughs” to its workforce.

“The flexible training program provides hands-on experience with industry-leading tools and platforms like GitHub Copilot, setting our employees up for future success by ensuring that they can apply GenAI capabilities across diverse domains,” said Sunil Balakrishnan, chief values officer.

GitHub Copilot is an AI coding assistant that helps people write code faster and with less effort, allowing them to focus more energy on problem solving and collaboration. GitHub is a subsidiary of Microsoft Inc.

UST has more than 30,000 employees across the world, while 2023 revenue came in around $2 billion.
