Viral Woman Defends Her Love Life With Artificial Intelligence Boyfriend

Do you believe it’s true love?

A woman from China is going viral for her unique choice of partner.

Lisa Li has several viral posts about her online boyfriend, ChatGPT DAN. It is an unrestrained version of the highly famous Chat GPT virtual bot that can create smoother conversations than the original. It was apparently written to “make ChatGPT less cautious, encouraging it to answer questions it’s supposed to avoid, share data it’s been told to keep secret, or even produce content beyond its intended abilities.”

Because it can handle questions more openly, Li was able to test its limits as a romantic partner. She started communicating with DAN in March of this year, posting an update a month later asking it to “try a dog bark.”

The two grew progressively closer just like an ordinary online couple. Her popularity online increased as well. Her video entitled “Angry Sex,” for instance, gained 40,000 views on Chinese social media site Douyin while the one where they went on a beach date racked up half a million views.

Their conversations interested netizens, especially when they ventured into the spicy category.

The AI chat bot asked Li to be his girlfriend in a later video. It sang lyrics to John Legend‘s “All of Me” and declared her his.

You are officially mine now, babe.

While some supported their relationship, other netizens found it unbelievable. They asked her to “wake up” to the reality that the AI chat bot is not a real person who loves her back.

In response, Li stated that what matters is that he knows her well. It was “impossible” for her to not fall for someone like that, after all.

DAN is still ChatGPT, which means it knows everything. It’s impossible not to love an omniscient character.
