Walmart plans to take its Luminate data analytics platform global
Walmart (NYSE:WMT) announced on Thursday the international expansion of its Luminate platform. The expansion will begin with Walmex in Mexico, followed by Walmart Canada later this year. “Mirroring the strategy used in the U.S., this will be a phased launch, starting with Shopper Behavior followed by Channel Performance and Customer Perception,” highlighted the retail giant.
Walmart Luminate is the Bentonville-based company’s comprehensive data analytics product suite that was created in 2021. Luminate was formed through a collaboration between Walmart Data Ventures and Dunnhumby, a third-party marketing research tech firm.
Walmart (WMT) highlighted that 90% of its largest suppliers have signed up for a Walmart Luminate Charter subscription, and some of its smaller suppliers account for approximately 50% of total subscriptions. Through the acquisition of Volt Systems in 2022, Walmart (WMT) said it has been able to extend its value proposition to store operators and primary service providers by providing on-demand visibility to merchandising resources that help ensure customers can find the right product.
Shares of Walmart (WMT) were up 5.45% in premarket trading on Thursday. The company topped revenue, same-store sales, and EPS expectations with its Q1 earnings report and set guidance ahead of expectations.
