Washington State to offer instant rebate program for electric vehicle leases | Spokane News
OLYMPIA, Wash. – Governor Jay Inslee (D) and the Washington State Department of Commerce touted a new instant rebate program for affordable electric vehicle leases on Tuesday.
Following a strong year for electric vehicle (EV) sales in Washington, the new program will prioritize low-cost EV leases.
According to the Department of Commerce, Washingtonians who earn under $45,180 per year will be eligible for a maximum rebate of $9,000 for new EV leases of at least three years.
In addition to offering lease rebates, used EV sales will also be eligible for a $2,500 rebate.
While state and federal incentives for electric vehicle leases and sales are relatively common, the Department of Commerce emphasized the focus of the new $45 million in rebates on affordable vehicles.
“Washington is the first state to prioritize low-cost leases as part of an EV incentive program,” the department said.
Additional information on income qualifications for the rebate program, which will open in August, are available online.
