Supporters of Southern Arkansas University will soon be able to display their passion for the university with a new state-issued license plate for their vehicles.

The new design retains a key feature of the current plate – a jumping mule and rider on the left side of the plate. The new plate features a mule and rider jumping through a stylized horseshoe, which is the logo of SAU athletics. A blue sash crosses the top to the plate, with the word “Arkansas” in gold. License plate numbers appear in blue. The words “Southern Arkansas University” are on the bottom of the new plate.

Any motor vehicle owner may apply for the SAU license plate through the Arkansas Revenue Office.

People pay an additional $35 a year for the special plate. SAU receives $25 from each plate issued. Plates may be personalized with up to four letters for an additional $25 fee.
